Hello From California!

Hi!  I am writing this next to a swimming pool under a palm tree in Anaheim, California (the home of Disney Land) and this week also the home to more than 10,000 librarians!  We are here for our annual library meeting where we talk about how to make sure libraries are great, find out how to do our jobs better, meet lots of authors, and find out about new books.  I just shipped 2 huge boxes of books back to Waltham along with all sorts of little prizes and over 4 dozen posters.  REMEMBER, IF YOU WRITE TO ME ON MY BLOG, YOU GET A FREE POSTER!!

This morning I went to a great program featuring Henry Winkler who writes the Hank Zipster series.  He told us about a new series he's working on called Ghost Buddy that sounds great, and I'm going to order it for Plympton.  I also got dozens of books that have not been published yet, including Grace Lin's new Chinese fairy tale, and a really good book about a boy and his dog who survive Hurricane Katrina (I started reading that last night).

I hope you are some place good this week too.  I especially hope you are reading something wonderful.  Write back, and tell me what you are up to and WHAT YOU ARE READING!  I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello Everyone!
I hope your first real day of summer vacation went well.  I went to visit a beautiful garden in New Hampshire with some teacher friends.  I also started reading my first summer book--Summer of the Gypsy Moths by Sara Pennypacker.  It is weird so far, but I've heard good things about this book (which is by the same author as the Clementine books and the book Stuart's Cape).

On Thursday, I'm going to California to a huge library meeting.  I am sure to see some authors that kids will know and will be sure to share who I see and what new books I hear about. While I'm there I will see my nieces Olive and Luna, who are 3 and 1.  What books do you think they would like me to bring to them?

I hope you've signed up for summer reading at the Waltham Library.  Did anyone go to the Pajama Party last week?  How was it?  Write back!!
Your library pal,
Ms. Paradis
